About Us

We meet people where they are.

And support them toward recovery.

For more than 55 years, Milestone Recovery has been a lifeline for Mainers experiencing substance use and homelessness.
From the street to stable housing, we provide real pathways forward.

Who We Are

Milestone Recovery provides low-barrier recovery, shelter, outreach, and support services for adults facing substance use disorder, homelessness, and other barriers to care across southern Maine.

For many of the people we serve, treatment has felt out of reach because of cost, lack of insurance, housing instability, or systems that were too difficult to navigate alone. We believe support should be accessible, compassionate, and rooted in dignity.

Through street outreach, emergency shelter, detoxification, residential treatment, housing support, and recovery services, we help people find safety, stability, and a path forward — without judgment and without turning people away because they cannot pay.

We meet people where they are.
And we stay with them as they move forward.

How We Help

Recovery isn’t one step. It’s a path. We walk it with people every day.

Outreach

We go to people first, building trust on the street and connecting them to care.

Stabilization

Shelter and detox provide safety, rest, and a chance to reset.

Recovery

Structured programs support people on their path to long-term recovery.

Housing

We help people move into stable housing and stay there.

Recovery is
not one step.

It's a path.

Stories of Hope...

Every person who walks through our doors has a story worth hearing. These moments of strength, recovery, and resilience show what’s possible when people get the support they need

“I wake up daily looking forward to being a father, a friend, a son. This major change has only been possible with the help of the staff and my brothers here at Milestone”
